We have this 2004 1802- the cuddy first smelled of light fuel and chemicals
( porta potty etc.) cleaned it all out. Still have the fuel smell while parked in driveway. Engine off. I left windows open-doesn't help. Don't smell fuel anywhere else-even when I open the cover plate. Husband and wife disagree on degree of odor. Husband thinks it is a type of "back draft" - wife having nightmares. Full canopy is on. What should the smell in the cuddy be?
I know this sounds kinda lame but wife won't rest-

Assuming that the 1802 has an outboard, you should never smell fuel in the bilge area or the cabin.

I would start with checking the fuel lines coming from the pickup, especially the return line if applicable.

Then make sure your tank vent is working and the hose is not compromised.

Fuel outside the fuel system is never good on a boat...

Good luck

Re: cuddy fuel smell on 1802

I have had several people "sniff" out the cuddy-some have said there was a light fuel smell maybe. many have said- "smells like boat!" I am not sure...I have one more person smelling it today. The tank area doesn't smell of gas- no fumes at all in the bildge. There is an odor ( same) that I smell when I undo the vinyl cover of the instrument cut away. Wife really is not enjoying this boat yet!
I will recheck all lines again! Thanks
