This is model 757HC, S/N 22779. I've had this motor for 10 years and it's never missed a lick. Last weekend was the first time out this year and it failed to start. I don't think I'm getting a spark and since I'm not an outboard repairman, I could use some assistance on where to start. I verified that there's plenty of gas and the battery turns the motor over normally. It has a Magna Power ignition and the distributor has "electronic" on it, if that helps. I have a meter to measure circuits but I don't have a manual to go by.

I suggest getting a Seloc manual for Chrysler. You can find them on ebay. It's user friendly and has great troubleshooting tips and diagrams. I like it so much that I got two.

Your model is a 1976. I would take the plugs out and ground the tips to the metal chasis on the motor with the plug wires attached to the plugs and crank the motor to see if you are getting a spark. Do this in a dark area

Could be your points, especially if it sat all winter, they get corrosion on them which causes no spark. They are under the distributor cap. Look for corrosion on the points, (black or Dirty) You could take them out and sand 'em, but with points being cheap, just buy a new set, just make sure if you do take them out to mark where the screws are as they are adjustable,

***Sidenote*** <br />Also while your in there, the distributor has a grease fitting on it for the bearing, might as well grese it until the old grease starts coming out the top, just for maintenance-

The distributor on this motor does not use points, but instead uses a sensor to send the signal to the ignition module. Make sure the blue wire at the key, the distributor, and at the Magnapower module is getting 12 volts during both starting and with the key in the 'on' position. Connect a voltmeter between the positive battery terminal and the white/black wire coming off of the ignition. Slowly rotate the flywheel clockwise and check for a momentary change in voltage. If you get get a signal then check the resistance on the ignition coil. If that is fine then switchout or repair the ignition module.
