Re: Crazy Weather

Did pretter well in this neck of the woods. Wife is complaining she has a hard time seeing to get out on the road. My old Cub stacked the snow higher than my mail box along my driveway. Told her to wait a couple of days and it will be where she can see.

We have a saying here in Mansfield. "If you don't like the weather, just wait a few days and it will meet your needs". My total snowfall here was 10". So we didn't get the big amounts, but this winter has been the snowiest on record for my town. There has been snow on the ground since Thanksgiving. I'm sick of it. Took some pictures to put in the cabin of the boat to help keep it cool this summer. :D .....SS

Re: Crazy Weather

Hang in there SS...maybe this is the last shot Ma Nature will throw at us before warm weather gets here. The "offical" snow fall around here was 16 1/2 inches. Plenty for me although I hear some of our friends to the east got it worse than we did. We got about another 2 inches last night. Nothing to get flustered about. I got to go to the NAPA place today and get a switch for my tractor. My gears are still grinding about that. Can't find my chains either. Only time of the year I want to use the darn thing and I can't. Well, no use in stayin' mad. Just fix it and get on with more snow removal. Stay warm out there SS. Wonder if Sinner_bait got his juice turned on yet? Ain't heard from him lately.

OBJ, got it back at a little after 8 this morning.
It's been real hectic here.
Lost my phones just after posting and they did not comeback till yesterday evening.
Man it looks like a battlefield here with all the ice everywhere.
Still some 60,000 people out of electric.

Re: Crazy Weather

I just spent Sat,Sun & Monday living out of a tent! Am I crazy or what? :p We didn't get too far from the campfire most of the time. Well, we did put on the hipwaders and freeze hiney a few times, and at least caught a few trout each.
Nothing but cold & rain, and sometimes it was tolerable - lol
The things we do to catch a fish... thankfully, no snow blizzards in N GA this time. Did you ever notice how much better coffee tastes when you're camping out? ;)

Hey ebb, it just don't any better than camping.
I started out in a tarp strung over a rope and raised 3 girls a camping.
Went from that to a regular tent, to a ford van, to a pop-up to a pull camper and now a motorhome.
Saved the motorhome till all the kids were grown and out of the house. :D

Re: Crazy Weather

yep, it was a beautiful setting, and very peaceful, almost no one else around. since its a 50/50 chance on getting good weather next time, i'll probably go in Feb again. campgrounds are packed in late spring & summer, when you can depend on better weather.

Re: Crazy Weather

Sorry guys, I can't match most of your numbers. We only got around 8" in the southern part of Maine. Up north they got even less. But what's the difference between 8" & 24" all you have to do is plow it out! In my neck if the woods I say let it snow .... and then be done with it. But lets keep that real cold up in Canada where it belongs.

Just plow it out!! just plow it out!!! I guess you guys in Maine must be used to multible feet of snow. Down here it is a major difference. It takes about 4 times as long to move it and then when you do where do you go with it. It has been a real pain in the arse for us. You guys way up north that have snow like this every year must be having a good knee slapper laughin at us flatlanders. My brother in law in Colorado has snow in the double digits all the time and I know he chuckles at the way we handle it here. :)

Re: Crazy Weather

Its -22 tonight we expect -30 by sunday
It looks like we won't go out this week end
Everybody is scared. Too cold , its hard to
keep warm at that temp. There's a pike tournament out on my favorite pike lake this weekend. last
year the biggest of the tournament was a 30lb 2oz behemoth . I expect this years fish to be in the
same category, as they are of similar size every
year.I have a few mounted on my walls from past
years. I think I will go alone,It'l be fun, plenty
cold but a good time, lots of old fishing boys
will be there. Good time to say hello and have a
wiskey. 600 tickets sold . Lots of fire pits to
visit.blah..blah.. blah..
