Well, I just got me a BlackBerry Curve 8330 or as some referred to it as CrackBerry. I might re-emerge in a few days after I learn how to use this thing.

Re: Crackberry

Had the old original one and loved it. Have the new one and hate it. They put more keys on the keyboard and they are smaller. Harder to see. Plus the backlight does not highlight the keys like the old one did. Did I say I hated it?

I have the same phone (8330) I have not had any problems with mine. I know what you mean when you say "Crackberry" I use it for everything! also here is a link to a free gps application you can put on it, if you dont already have one for the boat.

Re: Crackberry

Work made me get one. I hate the darn thing and never have it turned on. I tell them I was "out in the boat" and was afraid to drop it over.

I have no problem working emergencies, but having that ankle bracelet 24-7 is too much.

Re: Crackberry

...and that was the last that was ever heard of gonefishie again. Some say it was the crackberry that got to him. Others say it was the jilted significant other. But whatever happened, we know it had something to do with his new addiction to crackberry! ;):D:p

I like the connectivity and new features. I just hate the keyboard. I would have been OK with them making it BIGGER.

Re: Crackberry

I replaced my Palm Trio with the curve. I liked the palm better as the curve was so much different. I am liking it better and better. Like the others have said the keyboard is hard to get use to.

bustermin posted my thread about the free gps app. The app. works fine and keeps the same speed as my gps hand held unit. If you start seeing the battery life go south in a hurry check your applications running in the background by holding down the alt and return keys down.

Re: Crackberry

My wife got one thru her work some months ago. Haven't seen her since. I get an email from her every now and then. I found iboats forum and keep busy until her keyboard fails. Anniversary is coming in a couple of days. Maybe I'll hear from her then. Vacation is coming soon. I'm going fishing. No internet access there. Oh well...LOL

Re: Crackberry

I have posted here from the road on my new Palm Pre...Since it is my company phone (I was the golden boy ginnea pig..) I gladly took it. I asked for the built in taser app but "Q" wouldn't install it..

Whats funny is this "phone" has more memory than my first $6,000 Desktop puter...Geeeez

Re: Crackberry

I'm back! Wasn't a bad learning experience, had some moments of frustration. With the help of a very cute Verizon wireless store employee, I got it. :D It's way more useful then the traditional phone. My fingers are not big but they're still too fat for the keyboard.

Yeah no kidding! synchronized with outlook, inbox, calendar, contacts everything. I don't have to be in front of the pc to see meeting reminders anymore. Downside is I can't give the fake suprise look of what meeting?

Re: Crackberry

Work gave me a 8830 second day I was there.

Don't love it nor hate it other than I can call people on the company dime.

One thing I do like, I can respond to notes/emails without having to fire up the laptop and find an access point. I really can work anywhere now, and that I do love - I only go into the office two or three days out of the week...

Oh, and Bustermin, thanks for sharing that link to dooma_Flatchy's post for the GPS app, that's a good one for sure :)

Re: Crackberry

A friend of mine has one and thinks I need one. I won't even try one as it would be like anything else. If I try it,,,,I gotta have it. That is why I have never rode a PWC. I won't even take the offers to take a ride on my friends bike as I would have to get one.

Just a question. How would they be for a person to use that would have his hands covered in cooking grease? You can wipe and wash, but there is always a film that sticks with you. My cell phone has gone flying many times when I would go to answer it. I'm not sure if one would hold up getting dropped and covered in grease..........SS

I hear that! And once everyone knows you are "synched" up then they know you are instantly recieving emails, meeting requests etc. etc. Luckily I travel alot, so my excuse is "I was on the road" or "I was meeting with a client" etc. etc. lol
