Could a outboard board buy switching the control cables front foward to reverse, and then putting a left hand propeller on will it work if say also the gearing in foward is the same as reverse. What did people do years ago before twins came about

??----I had twin 235 hp Johson out boards on a Scarab sport.----Both right hand.----No issue.-----Doubt you can find a lefthand prop for that Johson.-----Lower unit bearing are not set up for reverse rotation.-----Why the question and concern ?----Twin outboards were common in the late 1950's and there was no concern with counter rotation !!

Oh also I been looking for a left hand propeller for a 2003 30hp johnson. And none to be found. Has anybody got ideas on where to find one or have a professional propeller store make one fit my shaft. Say like with a prop hub.

Counter rotating gearcases have a larger, stronger bearing behind the rear gear (forward on CCW gearcases), than do the CW gearcases. This is because the CCW gearcase is run in reverse with the LH prop on it most of the time.

I do not know if the gearcase castings are the same. They may be.

No such thing as counter rotation available for a 1998 30 HP as per post #2.-----Accept the simple facts.

The OP question was "is there a conversion....." Your post 2 says "no such thing".....

Pretty sure he thought you said no converter.

CCW 30hp .....lol, why?

Okay, had to do it!

The parts list for that engine does not show a CCW gearcase or CCW gearcase parts. Unless you have twin motors, I am not sure why you would want a CCW gearcase. Even with twin motors, CCW is a nice to have, but not essential.
