My boat trailer needs the hub oil changed on it and looks like it has been contaminated or really old. Should I seal the drain screw and put in the oil and see if it was just old oil, or replace the seals. Does any one know an easy way to see if they are getting water in them? I had the trailer two years and never thought about it until I noticed they were dirty looking. Also, does anyone know about how much new hubs are for ranger trail trailers, its single axle and doesn't have brakes, just a 17.5' boat.

If its just old it will look dark to black in color, if water is seeping in it starts to look tan to white.
