Cool Christmas Present

Just got my Christmas Present from my stepson last night. He had it ordered, but never came till yesterday ... a cool Mario Lemieux retro jersey. Only my jersey is from when he was the team captain, so I have the big C on the left chest. Wearing it now.

....nice Aspeck!! Great choice, great player. I often go to youtube and watch some of the best of Lemieux's goals (top ten stuff).
He was extremely talented....very deceptive because of his size...he always looked like he was going slower than he actually was, much to defences detrement. I remember when he got his first NHL goal on his first shift in his first NHL game.....unbelievable...talk about instilling confidence in the management.

It is great that your stepson thinks so much of you (as we do), aspeck.

I am not much of a hockey fan, but I remember that Mario skated like Gayle Sayers ran. . .a deceptive and effortless seeming glide.

Fair weather fan at best, and congrats on your gift. The only memory I have of him was againts Detroit when was, shall we say caught up in the moment, and played a little too hard. But he is a talent none the less.

What really made this gift special is that he and I have not always seen eye-to-eye, and he has made some choices that I have not approved of, but through it all I always wanted him to know that he was loved and respected. This gift was one that took some thought and effort on his part. The jersey is awesome, Lemeiux was a great player who had to retire before his peak, an incredible skater and puck handler with the size and speed that was unrivaled, but more importantly is what the jersey says to me.

Just a little melancoly today ... been a rough week and this was a neat bright spot. (His mother got a Roberto Clemente retro jersey that is pretty sweet also, but mine is nicer!)

Art I have a stepson too that NEVER saw eye to eye with me until he was about 26. He's 34 now and straightening his life up. He never bought me anything like that but does visit (from Minneapolis) us in southwest Indiana when he can. The best present he ever gave his mom and me? He said, "Dad, everything you told me was right but I couldn't let you know it." He had me when he called me Dad. Nice present, that means you did something right! Btw, this whole Canuck flag thing has got to stop.
