Convert Bass tracker into a Catfish boat

So I have found a 17' Bass Tracker Texas Tournament aluminum boat for a reasonable price. It has a single console for the driver and has a passenger seat. Platforms front and rear. My preference for a catfish boat is no decks, solid floor, front and back. A small front deck is ok for trolling motor, though I seldom use mine, unless while catching bait. Like to be able to get to the transom area for rod holders.
So the question is, how difficult would it be to remove the rear casting deck, and most of the front deck. and install an aluminum floor. Feel sure I can wreck it out, don't know what I will find, under the decks as far as flooring. I can install an aluminum floor using road signs. Thoughts, suggestions.

I'd have to agree with scott. Find a more basic boat for less and spend your time and energy and money building up to what you want rather than tearing out and modifying to what you want.

Find a nice aluminum "walleye boat" (Lund, AlumiCraft, Lowe, etc.) that will suit your needs better. Good luck in your search ...

Ok, I'm not in a hurry, have a 16' Landau that I removed the 35 HP remote steer, and all the bass seats, the small live well is there but used as storage. Seating is 360 degree swivel chairs used in hunting blinds, and can be placed anywhere after dropping anchor. I really like the open floor plan as I'm 73 and not all that stable on my feet, not wanting to climb over obstacles getting from one end to another while landing a flathead. Like my current boat, know I can do better though. Webekin

Good deal. The age factor just puts a point on it, find what you need. I'm only 57 but my feet are giving out and am so glad for my center console. It came perfect set up for me other than the fun things like rod holders and such.
