Control valve function

91 Rude 200hp, what is the function of the Control Valve #0394407, mine is leaking at different levels of throttle, curious as to the function of this valve as its connected to the linkage.

Acts a a pressure release or poppit valve if it was a merc.

This is the second OMC motor i've had that this valve looks to be leaking, but only leaks at certain throttle positions, is this normal? I would'nt think any water leaks would be good into the motor,should I replace it?

Just get the seal and oring and repair it.
