confused!!!

I have a mercruiser 190 alpha 1. took it out today, did fine on the first outing. went out again, went to get ready to put it on the traier, then it acted up. It acted like there was no fuel, have fuel. Started it, the started drags. when it did start, went to put it in gear (forward), it would die!!!!!! Help!!!!

Check your fuel filter. Dump it out in a clean jar and look for contaminants/water. How old is the gas?

190 I assume is a '470' with a 4bbl carb... When was the last time it had a full tune? When were the points replaced?

did tune up, plugs, wires and points. if the timing is off, would that effect it too? Is a pdf file of a service manual for the mercruiser 190? (that someone has and might want to share!!!!)

Got an engine serial number?

EDIT: There are 2 different manuals covering those engines... Merc do things by serial number. Get used to people asking for it..
