Complete removal of vro components

I tried to find this on the forums i've got a 2001 Johnson 90? Horsepower can you remove the VRO and all components? And just run off of a fuel pump

I have that pump but I want to take everything off because that square Box that holds the fuel in it is leaking which is causing a airleak I. Figured the best way to get rid of it would be take everything off

It's warped I Would like to get rid of the whole system? So? I. Will? Have no. Air leaks? Or anything like that? I just want to do away with it so I'm just wondering. Does anybody have any information on this and can you do it

It is not common to get rid of all those pieces.----I am going to look into getting rid of it on a 150 HP with 2 older 100 HP pumps,----Can't say how yet and not going to explain here how it is done for safety reasons.-----Your local dealer might help you.

So I'm going to have to take it that nobody's ever done this cause. There is nobody commenting on this. I sure can't find videos on how to do this. But I'm going to have to say I think it's got to be possible. I figured some old Tommy mechanic would come in on it but undoubtedly not. I would like some help but either way I guess I'm going to try it. I feel like getting rid of all of that stuff cuts down on any airleak

I have seen videos online that show how to remove that system. A lot of boat repair mech suggest getting rid of it so you won't blow your engine unexpectedly.

I would delete and install basic fuel pump. Premix 16oz oil to 6gal of gas try to stay away from alcohol blends. When it runs out of oil it also runs out of gas! Doesn't hurt to run a little rich on oil, spark plugs are less expensive than overhaul.

That is on the crossflow motors. The 60 deg looper has a whole different fuel system.

Ok, I have been reading and searching for the right answer to a question

143brad posted awhile back, because I am going to do the samething he is asking about here. I was told by a couple of certified Evinrude/Johnson techs that the VRO system can be removed, even recommending to do so if you are smart. No direct answers here on the ins and outs of doing except it is not recommended and just unhook the VRO pump. I am posting a picture here to show that according to my serial number on my 97 150hp Evinrude I can remove the VRO completely and replace it with this Fuel Pump, OEM part new Never asked if Crossover or anything from part distributor. Just make sure you mix your oil and gas correctly 50:1​
