Coil eater

I have a 1977 70hp Evinrude that has done 2 coils in the 3 times I have taken it out. Just bad luck or would somthing else be overloading the coils?

Check your grounds. Electricity has to come and go. If grounds are bad, it kinda gangs up on the last thing it goes thru.

Circuit is not being completed.

You should see the mess it makes when someone leaves the ground strap off of the old GM HEI distributors when they change out the ign. coil in the dist. cap. Evefrything melts down into a black plastic lump.
