Just before midnight we were called out for an auto accident ... less than a 1/2 mile from my home and between me and the fire station. Our Chief was just seconds in front of me, and I saw he had the initial scene covered, so I needed to get to the station to bring the rig and other fire fighters. I pass our Chief as he is pulling over and there on the road is the driver of the truck that wrecked!

He wasn't a problem, except that he caught my attention and when I looked back at the road, there was the telephone pole that he drove through, hanging in the middle of the road with live wires laying all around. Short story a little shorter, I was able to swerve and miss everything, but narrowly! God was with me, because there was more than my driving skill going on to manuveur the near misses. It could have been ugly!

In the end, no one hurt, 2 vehicles (one parked truck and the truck the kid was driving) and one telephone pole demolished, and the driver of the truck getting a ride in the police cruiser to be charged with an earlier in the evening hit and run, DUI, driving a vehicle (mother's) without permission (theft), and a few other charges.

There was 2 1/2 hours of sleep gone! Just glad no one was hurt (including me!)

Glad all is well. You had some "extra help" there I think.

OH that was a close one.
just remember, it's not the telephone cable's you have to be worried about but those power lines arc'n all over the place.
just remember to bunny hop if you get stuck in a power pole accident.
electrical potential and all that stuff.

YIKES! Glad you did great! More than I can say about the accident that happened north of Mansfield. Construction crew had traffic blocked. 8 cars stopped and waiting to be let through,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Then a semi truck hauling fuel ran smack dab into the rear of the whole line. Truck burst into flames and many hurt. One has to be aware of what is going on at ALL times......
