In my opinion, that yamaha 90 is THE IDEAL motor for a 16' Starcraft.

Re: CL Donor Boats for our Tinnies

Found another SC glasser for $300 with a Chrysler and trailer. Looks like a good walk through W/S. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/boa/2889529554.html

"70s something starcraft ski boat, split window. bought it as a project with aspirations of having it done in a summer. never ever got more done than washing it and it sat in the yard for a couple years before wife told me to get rid of it. its gutted and needs everything. i have no idea if the motor even works. i thought about getting rid of the boat and sanding down the trailer but figured if i hadnt done anything with it in 2 yrs, i probably wouldnt do that either. im asking 300 bc thats what i paid for it but will accept any offer. heck, if youve got something you want to trade i will consider that too. thanks for looking."

Another SC glasser trihull project with Alpha 1 /351 Ford (id that a good Mercruiser combo?) http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/2897970927.html

Ad "Boat sits as an unfinished project @ Campground 70, everything there to complete it except the elbow grease and time. Sales agreement and old registration/needs titled. Has trailer, needs
titled also. Painted four years ago, interior redone but sat uncovered for 3 years. Has alpha 1 i/o setup, hydralics work. Has mercruiser 351/ 2bbl. Needs new tires for trailer/ will hold air but
trailer needs jacked up to put air in all tires. New starter. Needs to be out of the campground within the week.
Keith 412-896-4638 home 412-823-0101 work till 5:00."

The ad title "FREE 1973 Starcraft Trihull (Bentleyville)" How can you go wrong? No pics. But gotta be gone in a week.

If you had a Ford power package and needed parts then it could be a great find. However, Ford, like OMC, has been out of the marine business for over a decade so it wouldn't be a first choice for a complete swap.

Hey, CBK, this is down your way. It is vague, very vague, but it's priced right to warrant a call, is now too late?

I re-read the ad, and It maybe an unpleasant call to someone who isn't expecting before 8a & after 11p calls. But it is certainly worth a call, no matter what it is if it runs. Maybe it's the $500 1950's chevy that's been in the barn for years mythical Corvette...

Re: CL Donor Boats for our Tinnies

it seems you guys are going parts crazy.....I see free and almost free fiberglass boats on trailers with motors all the time....the reason is...the 15year old and older fiberglass boats are a penny a dozen...there are millions around that have dirty broken interiors rotted tires and cracked IO motors......even the ones with running outboards are cheap or free?? why?

because it cost hundreds of dollars to get rid of the hull up here...most dumps wont take them. youd have to cut the thing up and burn it in peices at night.....(because you cant legally burn it) tehn youd have to go buy tires to get it home and deal with the rusted lug nuts...

doesnt quality of life mean anything??

of course the best ones are on nice trailers, with desirable motors...and they make all the trouble of getting rid of the glass body worth it.

now if your yard already is a junk yard then having a few additional parts boats sitting there wont be an issue
