Anybody look at the other pictures? The one taken from above and cropped, to avoid showing the lack of attendance was priceless!

Yes, that pariah of media outlets everywhere, the all knowing maha rushi, had the pics and comments about 2 weeks back.
For those who ever doubted the existance a "media bias" (like CJY and Treedander to name a couple), here is yet one more example of lefty media getting caught in the act.
And this from Ken's link:
Photographer Evan Vucci, queried about the incident today said that he was "present at the book signing from about 10 a.m. to about 11 a.m. During that time", he said, "people were coming in to have their books signed in small groups of a few at a time".
My heart goes-out to this young upstart photgrapher, because he is obviously looking for a new job today! At any rate, it would be interesting to know of his employment status.

Hmmmm! I wonder where all our left leaning friends are? They usually have a good defense or rebuttal for everything you mean conservatives post. ;)

I think what you are seeing is right-wing propaganda. (And you thought it was only the left-wing that did that.) Those are photos from the book signing BEFORE it began. Viewed in its proper context, they are nothing more than the usual, boring documentary photos. They speak to nothing.

Cindy Sheehan is a mother who lost a child to a very questionable war. No more no less. I'm sure she feels she is dealing with her grief the best way she knows how. She is just a mom that may not be very media savvy and yes she probably said some things that didn't cast her or her cause in a very favorable light. So what? There are plenty of people on the right that say stupid things everyday for far less a reason.

The fact of the matter is she peaked about 2 months ago. I can't remember the last time her name was even brought up in any mainstream left leaning circles. But the right can't seem to stop beating up on her. This just proves at how desperate the Republicans are to use this type of diversion from their problems.

BTW this kind of demonizing sends a message to any other mothers of fallen soldiers. Criticize the White House for this war and we'll come after you.

Sorry, jimonica, but you're wrong on this one.
Quick recep:
Cindy met with W after Casey was killed in the war. She stated that W was very kind, concerned, and sad over her son's death. Cindy went home, got a change of heart, and decided that she hated W, the war, and our gov't. She demanded to see W again. He refused. She was backed up by a bunch of liberals that will do anything to bring discredit and bad light on W's administration. It worked for about three weeks and they moved on. Cindy quickly became old news. Michael Moore supported he for about one week and saw that there was nothing in it for him, so he moved on. Meanwhile, poor Cindy Sheehan has been making money and getting support for discrediting her son's part in the Armed Forces and our war on terrorism. I need to add that Casey joined voluntarily and reenlisted. He was not a draftee or a stop-loss soldier.
Now Cindy is seeing how the liberal Bush-haters do business. It is hard, but this woman probably honestly thought that she could make an impact and thought that she had support.
It's all gone now. Her son is dead, her husband left her over this tirade, and now all she has is her bitter heart to live with.

Kind of, and kind of not. She did lose a child in a very questionable/controversial war, but Sheehan, like Marc Klaas (father of Polly Klass) have cashed in on the unfortunate death of their child. Any rational parent would have come to grips with their grief and pulled back into normalcy. Both Sheehan and Klaas need to keep both their face and the death of their child in the spotlight to keep their ‘cause’ alive. Both claim their cause serves a greater public service. Whether it actually does or not will depend on how you align with their agenda(s) ... agendas built on the death of a child.

How much is the death of child worth? I don’t know, but you might ask John Walsh, host of the popular TV show ‘America’s Most Wanted’. All of Walsh’s activism was absent until the death of his 6-year old child. Now Walsh is a celebrity.

Re: Cindys book signing

18rabbit,

I agree with most of what you say. I don't know if "cashed in" is a appropriate way to term what any of these people have done. I guess I'm not willing to be too critical on any of the actions that these people take after losing a child.

In Cindy Sheehan's case, a few months ago I saw her being interviewed and she was asked the question about profiting from her sons death. And she responded by inviting any of her critics to look at her bank accounts and credit card statements. Stating that she is living off her credit cards. If she needed to write a book and have the proceeds pay for some of her living expenses while she does her protest, I don't see the big deal.

Friz,

I think what happened was she met with President Bush shortly after her sons death. I think she was still in a state of shock. But soon after she started getting a little more information on how we were mislead into this war. And the more info that came out the more angry she got. So she wanted to meet with Bush again to ask him some questions that were on her mind. Not too much to ask for a mother that gave her son to her Country.
Of course we all know Bush has refused to see her.

As for Micheal Moore going down there to show his support for Cindy. How can you criticize him for that? Did he say he would stay indefinitely?
You said he stayed a week. I'd say that's a pretty good commitment from a guy that is a busy as Michael Moore. How many of us could give up a week of our time for a similar cause?

Re: Cindys book signing

This is a woman grieving her sons death. Simple enough. This is also a woman who has been exploited by the media, and politicians.

She may have solicited the exploitative parties, or they found her.....net result the same.

Largely, she has become attached onto a cause via *****dom. She wanted to deliver a message, but found herself employed as a vehicle of message, as well as political position delivery tool.

Re: Cindys book signing

There seems to be an agreement that she is a woman overwhelmed and out of her mind with grief.

What does that say about the media and the left who exploited her? Moveon.org? Michael Moore? The alphabet media? A bias? I have been told over and over again that there is no left wing bias. Why would they put a woman who is overrun with grief and not thinking clearly on national TV night after night after night after night after night?

Is the message more important than the facts? You can't have it both ways. Journalists usually have a responsiblity to use reputable sources before providing a conduit for the message. Well they did at one time.

I too think she has lost her mind and could become a danger to herself if she loses an outlet for her grief. I hope someone in the mental health field can get involved before something drastic happens. But all those that exploited her will most likely make themselves scarce when she really needs them, because they won't need her. Swell group of people.

Re: Cindys book signing

Ah, come on. Political forces use and discard people all the time when it suits their interests--on either side.

How about Paula Jones, who had a publicist and an entourage travelling with her, booking her speaking engagements, paying for makeovers, etc. and then dropping her in a flash when she was no longer useful.

It is a disgusting practice, done by all sides.

Ms Sheehan lost her son, and I'm absolutely sure her pain is heartfelt. I don't think she should be put in charge of America's foreign policy, but she deserves the right to have her voice heard--whether anyone listens is up to them...
