Pretty sure thats what was being done here, JB.
Didn't see anyone say she was fat, dumb, stupid, or ugly.

Put your glasses on and read again, Roscoe. Count the "She is a. . . ." compared to the "she did. . . ." and "She said... ."

Mind you, I do not forgive her behavior. It is seditious. I just believe in attacking behavior, not people.

So, if Hitler was here, you would attack his actions but have no problem with him as a person?

Originally posted by PW2:
I think it is wrong to ascribe motives to Ms Sheehan when you all have no idea what her motives are.

And I also think it is reasonable to have a reasoned debate on our future course in Iraq, and not engage in the name-calling, whether it be here re Ms Sheehan, or in Congress as happened last Friday.

Ms. Sheehan's theory of our future in Iraq may well be simplistic and flawed, but blindly "staying the course" is equally simplistic and flawed, IMO.
OK. I won't ascribe motives to ms sheehan, but those movements are warped.
"Blindly staying the course"?
I think it is nearsighted to believe we should pull-out in the final stretch, with a string of victories in our wake.
It's just one more reason i think Sheehan has placed herself in the same cult as Sean Penn, Hanoi jane, and john kerry.
She, just as the other operatives i have listed, is echoing aljazeeeerah, alqeuda and zarqawi, and are to be treated as such (at least by me).
The president has just stated that "speaking-out against the war was not un-American"..I presonally disagree. It's fine to do that after such dissent can no longer encourage the enemy, or change the course towards victory..

She is anti-American. If you do not believe this, review the results of the recent pole right here in this forum, "Should we pull-out?"
The last time i checked, we were still a representaive republic.
Sheehan proposes to speak for a majority, when such diatribe is far from it. She is a disgrace, regardless of her motives.

Re: Cindy, nobody cares!!!

Did I say I had no problem, Frog?

Without his actions and behavior Hitler would have been nobody. Same with Ms. Sheehan.

You seem to have completely missed my point. You know nothing about her as a person. You know only her behavior, which I condemn along with you.

Name calling is irrelevant. It is what people DO, not what they are, that matters.

Had Hitler survived to face war crimes trials no amount of name calling would have mattered at all. The only considerations that would have mattered were what he DID.

Now you know how I hoard my post count! But, I have to use one to support Pointer and Pogo -- and, as usually if you get to a thread such as this the good comments are already posted.

As JB has said, it's Her behavior that raises concern -- don't know Her as a person; and, personally, don't want to. I do think She has been caught in the media thing and by groups using Her.

Re: Cindy, nobody cares!!!

I don't see where anyone said:
"She is a....."
or anything close to that.
A few have questioned or stated her motives, which may or may not be true, but no one called her a name. Ok, Blade_X kind of called her a wack job, which is true according to some news reports.
There were a lot worse things said about her a few months ago.

Peace, Roscoe.

Wack job, fruit, fruitcake are meaningless, as are speculations about her motives.

What she has done and what she has tried are truly bizarre and offensive enough without conjuring up a demon.

Alright, JB, I can agree with your point to an extent. I believe that a persons actions define who they are, i.e: act like a fruit, you are a fruit.

I agree to this extent, Froggy:

What a person does/says that we see and hear defines our perception of them.

I do not agree that it defines who they are.

Good people sometimes do bad things. Bright people sometimes do stupid things. If we only know of the bad and stupid all we see are bad and stupid people. We should know better.

It does not forgive what they do, but it reinforces our knowledge that humans are fallible, gullible, fickle creatures to reserve our judgement of the person and focus instead on behavior.

True believers properly leave judgement of the person to the ultimate judge.

Re: Cindy, nobody cares!!!

What you say is laid out very rationally. Your logic is well developed, and in the format you present it, hard to disagree with. Each paragraph stands true.
Your last sentence seems to be the conclusion of your logic with an implied statement. I don't agree with the "logic" of it for several reasons.
First, I assume you are making a Judeo-Christian referance. If so, the reference is out of context. Your statement seems to refer to the biblical idea that only God knows a man's (woman's) heart and therefore no man should pass judgement regarding anothers salvation. I am not taking a position regarding her salvation. I am sure that God loves her as much as the rest of us sinners. If that is not your intended reference, please correct me.
Second, we don't always need to know everything about someone to pass judgement(there's that conflict again). The lib's (which I know you're not) would have us crying over every criminals past and offering up counseling instead of punishment.
I believe that Cindy Sheehan has played her cards. She has allowed the media/left to use her by continuously pandering to their cameras. Because of this, I assume that her true intent and motives are revealed and I judge her accordingly.
I think she is a fruit plus cake.
Now that I have said all that. You and I often seem to be on opposites ends of very minor issues when we are probably in agreement on most of the bigger matters. Because of this, I somehow feel like you see me as some techno like irritant. Am I reading your posts wrong? I guess I'm getting sensitive these days.
George

Why beat a dead horse. She certainly has earned the right (given one of her children) to protest, to complain, yes maybe even to see the President more than once since his war killed her son. You do not have to buy the book.

Re: Cindy, nobody cares!!!

JB, I would strongly disagree with you. What you say would be true for a mistake, a blunder. Not true for a persisted course of action.

If a person kidnaps a young girl, rapes her and then kills her, that person is (in my opinion) the most vile type of person imaginable: A rapist and a murderer.

I don't care if he was a loving husband, if he provided well for his children, or if he was good at his job. He is still a rapist and a murderer.

I truly believe the perception of others DOES define who you are.

I can claim and believe that I am good at my job, but if my coworkers and superiors percieve me as incompetant, then I am incompetant.

Doing volunteer work, giving to charity, and helping those in need would define you as a "humanitarian".

I don't believe a singular event would define who you are. A single DUI would not define somebody as a "drunk", nor would a single speeding ticket define somebody as a "dangerous driver". However, consistent and persistent criminal activity would indeed define somebody as a "criminal".

No, Froggy, I do not see you as an irritant at all.

I see you as a rational and thoughtful person with whom it is a pleasure to discourse.

The Ultimate Judge? No, I don't mean the Judeo-Christian notion of an all-knowing, all-wise diety. No being knows Cindy Sheehan better than she herself. Her behavior suggests that perhaps she has passed judgement on herself and is seeking to purge herself of guilt, sort of like the stereotype reformed drunk or born again sinner.

yes maybe even to see the President more than once since his war killed her son.
Funny, I would think Cindy would have had a pic of Bush holding a gun to Caseys head forcing him into the ARMED FORCES. And another one from his re-enlistment ceremony. Oh yea, its a volunteer military we have. I guess that above comment is a little silly. What do you think can happen to a soldier during wartime, in OUR war. You know that a war cannot be declared by a president without congressional approval.

Lets do the math on your bizzare belief that every parent of a citizen killed in a war gets a couple of hours with the leader of the free world. 3000+ from the twin towers x 2parents each minimum x 2visit minimum. 12,000 visits right there. 2000 soldiers x 2parents each x 2visit minimum. Another 8000 visits there. Well so far we are up to 20,000 visits. How about the wounded? One visit only for them. 15,000 more visits. OK a minimum 35,000 visits by your standard. Cindy is real important and has valuable insights so what do you say; 30min each visit? 1,050,000 minutes of visitation. Cindy is really special.

How much time did JFK spend with the families of the dead from Vietnam? Well lets do the math again. 50,000 killed x 2parents x 2visit min x 30.............

YEP, POWER TO THE PEOPLE. Kum bye Yea.

How about, "Mr. Bush, I lost my mind with grief and I would like to apologize to you and the American people." or how about, "How I got the clap from Michael Moore!"
