JB, I would strongly disagree with you. What you say would be true for a mistake, a blunder. Not true for a persisted course of action.<br /><br />If a person kidnaps a young girl, rapes her and then kills her, that person is (in my opinion) the most vile type of person imaginable: A rapist and a murderer.<br /><br />I don't care if he was a loving husband, if he provided well for his children, or if he was good at his job. He is still a rapist and a murderer.<br /><br />I truly believe the perception of others DOES define who you are. <br /><br />I can claim and believe that I am good at my job, but if my coworkers and superiors percieve me as incompetant, then I am incompetant.<br /><br />Doing volunteer work, giving to charity, and helping those in need would define you as a "humanitarian".<br /><br />I don't believe a singular event would define who you are. A single DUI would not define somebody as a "drunk", nor would a single speeding ticket define somebody as a "dangerous driver". However, consistent and persistent criminal activity would indeed define somebody as a "criminal".
