Indiana just passed a law on throwing lit objects from moving vehicle a couple years ago after a congressman,senator or the like got one thrown in there car going down the hi-way.

RF, It sure isn't me, ask my boss. He is so PO'd at me. My new service van (less than 10K miles on it) has ashes all around the seat and steering wheel. Butts on the floor, ashtrays full and running over into the cup holders. He asked me why I didn't just flick them out the window. I told him that if I did that the members of iboats would be pissed at me. Jus kiddn. Actually my van isn't that bad. The guys at the car wash clean up the mess. I just haven't taken it there for awhile due to the freezing weather.<br /><br />If you want to know who does this butt tossing, look at the cars that have clean ashtrays and with the window channel felt having burnt spots on it. That is a dead give away.

Just returned from driving the ALCAN Hwy; (7 days up to Anchorage- 3 days back) saw truckers and cars throw lit butts out window! They were going in the opposite direction. As many have said; I also detest the practice. There is also lots of trash on road side! And there are pull outs all along the hwy with large trash bins.<br /><br />Any liter on the road bugs me - just lazy people! In wife's car she has a trash basket - my Subaru - the right seat floor does as a trash deposit.

"RF" I will 'fess up! When I was younger I did it all the time......Then again there a'int much in Jersey that shouldn't be burned down anyway, esp. Newark & Canden ....That goes double for empty alchohol containers......When the 'brain trust' decided to implement that particular gem, all my empties went right out the window! Some laws are just stupid.....Throwing a lit cig out the window does deserve a fine however.....IMHO......JK

know what your talkin about with the emptys haut. when i was younger we used to see how many road signs we could hit. got pissed at a buddy who i was givin a ride home when he was so wasted he did not relize the window was up and busted it out with a bottel. thats a bad way to thank the DD
