Chieftan throttle relocate?

Anyone out there with a Chieftan moved the horribly placed throttle lever? It's in such an awkward place but I'm not really sure where to begin. Anyone know of a thread out there where someone did it? Not sure of what to look out for or if maybe there's a kit?

Where is yours located? The side mount on mine is in the perfect spot.But if you are looking for the helm mounted morse units, I'd think the helm on a cheif would be a tad too vertical to mount them.

When I'm sitting its down below my knee around the calf. I really have to reach way down to adjust. Not so bad just cruising but for docking and such where you need to change gear quickly while steering its a pain. Looking at the pics of your boat, I wish my throttle was in the same place as yours.

Post a pic, and see what the heads here can come up with. Mine appears to be the factory control from what I'm guessing; in the factory location.

This is the only pic i have at the moment, i'll have to get out and take a better perspective picture. I believe that maybe the seats just aren't factory height because the shifter certainly looks like it. The top of the shifter base is even with the bottom of the seat if that helps.

Your shift lever is in the same position as mine. Is that a foot rest i am seeing. If so, that looks awful high.

Look at it on the bright side, your cabin sides are painted, mine has this god awful black vinyl over it and will have to be removed. Was a 70's thing I guess, vinyl on cars and boats

It was the foot rest, I just painted my sides last weekend. However on mine the bottom of the seat is about even with the top of that side so it puts the shift handle at or below my knee. Hence why I want to move it...or move the seat mower and lose the footrest...not sure

You may be able to squeeze a top mount on the far right side of the helm if you relocate the switches. Was thinking of adding one myself:

Yeah I'd like to reuse the original with some longer cables to save $$ if possible.

That may be tough since there doesn't really look like there would be anywhere to mount it. But you may be able to add a piece of ply behind it, with a cut out in the center (kinda like the one pictured) to give more room for the controller internals.

Yeah that may be an option, I'll have to see what's going on when I look at it.
