Checking timing on pull start 25HP Johnson 1976

Anyone know where you connect a standard timing light to a rope start 25HP. Of course with a car you connect the black and red to the battery then the spark lead to the #1 Cylinder. I have the manual and they say you can connect a timing light but the don't say how. Where do you connect the wires on a rope start boat engine? Any help appreciated.

Use a 12 volt battery to power the gun, and just hook up the spark lead like usual.
