Well, it was freezing cold yesterday, 35 below range, so, I threw on a sweatshirt and bought a Starcraft!

(I'm sure that makes sense to somebody)

16' Mariner, not sure of the year yet, guessing mid 70's...

Sorry for the shabby cell phone shots fellas.

The hull is in excellent condition, rubrail and castings in great shape, trailer is sound. She'll need all new wood, paint, tires, no sweat:encouragement:

She has been sitting forever at one of my local marine tech's place, and, she'll be there a little longer. She's kinda behind some snow banks turned blocks of ice. No problem, I have other stuff to do eh. I hope I can bring her home for my bday in early March maybe, we'll see.

Congrats on a very nice score...
I only wish that tinnies were as plentiful in my glass-locked neck of the swamps...
That would be a real sweet little inland water fishing machine...
Just don't let it push the Bow-lander too far back on the build sheet...
;):D

Nice rig man! I learned to waterski (read: fall many, many times) behind one of those when I was 10! Also did a lot of fishing out of it too.... really nice stable, towable rig. It was owned by close family friends who towed it up to the lake every summer from NC!

So... is this one going to get the bow put back on then? :D

Man you got a problem, sure glad I don't have all those junk boats around my place. :D

Although... She is a cutie pie little SC, I'm not sure about being able to leave her behind when I left unless someone important doesn't know yet...

Yup my friend, that is exactly what this boat will be: bare bones, straight laced, nothing fancy, nuts n bolts, fishin rig:thumb:

My plan for now is to bolt on a pair of new tires, wire up some lights, scab on a Red Green style transom, bolt on the Evinrude 15 hp tiller, and go fishing for a while. The Islander will no doubt stay to the top of the production list!

CONGRATULATIONS! A new (and hopefully longtime) member of the jasoutside tin family!

Yah buddy, this boat will fill that empty skinny water slot I had just right! I think my new 3 boat line up should be a good LONG TERM plan;)

 More tin! :thumb:

I didn't seem to be a two boat man for very long eh.

Another one!!!!

Hey, teamster, I'm 50/50 on keeping this a SC vs. running her as a Tiller, just thought you should know.

So... is this one going to get the bow put back on then?

HA! Funny you mention that. As I have been eyeballen boat here over the last month, there were a few that popped up that would have needed bow surgery for about the same price point. I gotta say, I am amped I don't have to do all that extra work to make that open up there. Really amped!

Man you got a problem

Problem? I don't have a problem:tinfoil3:

Yah man, I was nosing around the web this morning, plenty of 18 and 21 ers but hardly any 16 footer out there. She should make a great project. I think a really easy project too!:joyous::joyous::joyous::joyous::joyous:

See, I knew that one of you guys would figure it the same as I did! I happen to think we are both brilliant GA:encouragement:

(and incredibly good looking I should add)

Yah, looking at the forecast for the next month, I wonder if those ice burgs might not be melted out till July!

Great score Jason, that stinking cold just won't give you guys a break down there. Hope it warms up soon so you can work on the Bowlander and get the new one home.

Awesome!

I knew that was gunna happen! What gives, I thought Mariners were center console, not side mounted...

I'm happy for ya, and envious at the same time!

Aw - Shucks. I know you and the seller didn't stand around the boat kickin' tires and dicker price. Shoulda been a boom, boom deal and back in the warm car. ;)
