That just ridiculous...

EBay, Craigslist, local classifieds?

Often here how OMC is obsolete because there are some parts NLA. Even if every part was available who would pays prices like that.

look for a local salvage yard that had boats. search the internet a little more.

i just purchased one with a cracked lower unit and got it welded and the seals i got from napa.

try calling different marina's and see what they tell you for a rebuilt pump if they deal with them.

Look for a 877373 rebuild kit for your original 860629. List shows them at $171.36. That's a hell of a lot better than $560. Hope this helps.

Re: Cheaper Volvo Penta parts

Thanks guys for the new links and help!!

When I looked at the housing closer it seems I'm going to need a whole new pump. On the back wall of the pump have a circular groove that has been worn into the old pump, prolly the pump that came with engine in 1995.

It doesn't leak when the engine is off only when engine is turned on does it leak from the shaft seal. Do you think it's still loosing prime threw that small drip spot?

Also can the sea strainer be sucking air under load, even thought there no water coming out of it with engine off or on?

I'm gonna dive into tommarow and double check the water intake on bottom of boat. It's going to be freezing, considering I'm in NY right now and no damn wet suit. :D

Thanks guys !

How bad is the groove? Post a pic.
Often a new seal will stop the leak. If the shaft is worn or grooved,Marine tex or a metal putty on the shaft or have the shaft welded and cut down.
Sometime shimming out the seal and giving the seal a new place to ride helps.
Don't understand why your getting wet.If there is no water seeping around the fitting on the inside of the boat.J

Hello jerryjerry05

Groove on back wall of pump is pretty bad, I'll have to charge my camera. Its the original pump from 1995 and 1 or more of the bearings feels like its dragging when turned slowly by hand. I ran the overhaul kit idea to my nephew but he wants to just have piece of mind and get a whole new pump.

Was getting wet to check for blockage in the thru-hull water intake before sea strainer.

Thanks,
DamianJP
