Re: Chatahoochie River

I probably should have said you need a license to fish in Ga, fresh or salt, private pond on your property is exception. If on a charter boat that has license you don't need one but otherwise you do.

I doubt I will make that trip, won't say no yet. Wife has been out of work for 11 months, my hours were cut during same time so finances are getting thin, she is back to work now so hope things will let up a little, we made it this far so up is the way to go now. :D

Glad things are looking up for you:). Thanks for the info. Hopefully things will keep going in the direction you're looking and we'll meet on the ACF in the spring;). Until then, see ya on the forum.

Safe and happy boating always!!!

Lots of changes going on. Moving to south Alabama in Feb, Getting married in April, but I'm still planning to make the trip, but probably will start a bit farter south. Looking at a house on Gantt Lake near Opp and Andalusia. Will be nice to have the toys sitting there waiting for me after work.

Happy New Year and Cogratulations Jim!!! Does Gantt Lake have access to the ACF? (Appalachicola/Chattahoochie/Flint River System)

Re: Chatahoochie River

Just thought it was time to stick my head back up. I'm settled in at the lake. Point A lake instead of Gantt, but 2 covered slips were a good trade off. The engines on the Bertram 25 are both running sweetly, and the drives will be going together this week. It looks like I am on track to make a trip to the Gulf, either along the river, or via the highway soon.

Hey Jim,

Good to hear from you again. Have you been following the St Augustine get together thread? How about joining in? June 18th. The municiple marina still has slips available.

Glad your settled in to your new home. Really happy for you. Two covered slips... Nice.

Welcome aboard!!!

Don't know of any Georgia boaters club, but you've found a great forum. Where in Georgia are you? Tell us a little about yourself. Boating experience, type/types of boat or boats, ect.

I'm in south GA. I have been on boats my entire life, well almost. I grew up on a bass boat and I've graduated to bigger and better things. I like boating and long walks on the beach. How about you?;)

I don't know of a Georgia boaters club either, but if we keep getting Ga members here we will have our on group before long. I keep going to the Fl get togethers for a while there I was the token Ga guy, now there is two of us, maybe three should you decide to join in on the St Augustine trip. You have found a great group of people here. Now back to the regular programing.

Re: Chatahoochie River

we did short day trip on the Apalachicola at the end of last season. To say it is beautiful is not near accurate. We had the river to ourselves for the most part. I know it probably doesn't need mentioning, but be sure to stay in the channel. We missed one buoy and smacked a log ~40mph. Fortunately, nothing was damaged and we didn't sink, but it sure was a frightening experience. Unfortunately, the river churns so much that you can not see objects below the surface, it is a solid brown. We put in at Bristol and went all the way to the dam. It was a truly amazing trip. The scenery was awesome! I only managed to get a couple pics from my iphone, but here they are. You can see the dam in the back of the last picture.

You don't need a date, you have a wife... regardless of the weather, the water will still be there... So we can count you in, right?:D

Hi people I'm Eddie. I am the guy that made the blog downthehooch that is in the second post of this thread. We are putting together another trip down the Chattahoochee starting from Eufaula and ending in Panama City again this year. We are leaving Eufaula on June 22. We have 2, possibly 3 boats going down now. Anyone else interested?

I'd love to, but I'll be heading back from St Augustine on the 22nd or 23rd...:( Maybe on the next trip.

Aviator Jim may be able to make it, though. Where are you, Jim? Are you going to be able to join the St Augustine Get Together? Havn't heard from you in a while... rlb9844 wants to head down to the gulf in mid-July for some scalloping. Think we might be able to put something together with that? I still want to take the river system down to the gulf with you. It's really tough to make plans these days; but finances have gotten better. That has a lot to do with limited time, though... Double edged sword, so to speak. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Chatahoochie River

I'm still around. St Augustine is a bit too much of a haul for me to get there. I have been working the bugs out of the Bertram on the lake here. Looks like I'll be ready to play in the Gulf in a few weeks. I was aiming to make it to the Billy Bowlegs festival in Destin in June. But a trip in July is doable too. My fiance will be getting back in July, so the timing may be bad.
..
I may try to get to Eufala on the 22nd.
Where is the meetup planned?
