Definitely steer clear of the seadoos. Major mechanic's nightmare. I ended up selling mine after nothing but problems. And I did my own work, and got damned good at it, with all the practice I got.
We were looking at chaps in the 18' range, but like you said, you have to get to 20' before you have the walkthrough. Or go 22' and get a head!
We quit looking when we snagged our Glastron. No walkthrough, but everything else was perfect for us.
