Hello all I posted in another section but im not sure if it's in the right place, im trying to locate the sending unit on my 96 chaparral 1930 SST , and I cannot find it anywhere there is a plastic cover in front of the dog house but all that is in there is the anti syphon valve access and fuel line to the fuel pump. Does anyone have an idea we're it is ? I looked under the seats in the ski locker etc. There isn't another access plate anywhere that I can find and im just scratching my head. The reason im replacing

There is no such thing as customer service at Chaparral.
They will tell you to contact the dealer you purchased the boat from.

The fuel sender should be inside the fuel tank.
You would get to from the top, approximately in the middle.
If I ever have to get to mine I will have to cut an access hole.

Im thinking that's what's going to have to happen I just would like an idea we're, is is there isn't any access from the floor the only access is for the fuel line and anti syphon does somebody have like a measurement from the anti syphon back to it's area and a plate I can purchase to fill the hole?

Typical for pretty much every Boat Manufacturer, like the "Good Hands People", the hands spread apart when there is a Problem...

There's also no service manuals either someone has to have changed a sending unit before at least once and has a clue we're exactly I need to cut im not enthusiastic about guessing and drilling into my floor

They go all the way to the Back and under the floor I know we're the gas tank is I just don't know were to open the floor up at I can't feel anything through the one access cover and I don't know if it's all the way in the middle of to the left off to the right under the seats even if I could find a photo of a old gas tank that would answer alot of questions and potentially solve the problem I have but I can't even find that

Assuming you have the bench seat style in the rear have you removed that yet?

Typically they are pretty close to the engine from what I have previously seen I'm assuming you remove that bench seat and you'll see it.

There's no access with the seats removed just battery trays and engine and trim pump it's a 4.3 inboard mercruiser

With the Engine Cover/Sunpad open, can you see the Fuel Lines, and Fuel Fill Hose/Pipe go under the Floor/Deck? If so, can you get a Mirror and Light down there to try and see the location of the Sending unit?

Ya I wouldnt think it would be to far away from there. i'd say since its under the bench seat start cutting away lol

I may have to get an inspection mirror im assuming it's 40 gal it doesn't connect from the back engine cover it ends at the access plate for the fuel line and anti syphon valve ,I can feel we're the tank ends from there I stuck my hand in there and couldn't feel it I may get an inspection mirror and some welding wire from work and shove it in the access hole I have and hopefully feel its general area and measure it out then cut it i ordered the sending unit last season And figured it would be a piece of cake to change , but clearly it's not as easy as every other boats is

On my I/O the Sending unit is quite a ways back on the tank(makes for a very inaccurate fuel gauge) and is about 2 ft forward of the front of the engine itself, pretty much under the front of the Bench Seat

I tried to upload video of it me circling the inside of the tank area it's 45 seconds so it's too big but that sending unit is no we're in sight
