Re: Changing Q4 Seat Post

Did you use normal self tapping screws?
I was thinking of using toggle bolts when/if I do mine.

No. I used the original set screws that secured the old seat base.
30mm long and look like these but tapered....

You're right. They would have been the better option but I was never happy with the height of the seat anyway.

The seat was also unusable when the boat was anchored due to the height so it's going in the bin!

What do you mean by unusable? If you don't mind me asking.
I always thought that the seats were too low so sitting up higher would be preferable.

Hi Mordekai,
The original position of the seat was OK at anchor while sitting and relaxing but on the move I found it too low.

Now the seat post I fitted was 12 inches high and this took the base of the seat to just above the bottom of the steering wheel and real close to it.

I could have lived with that but as I said, the seat was really not good for sitting in and having a beer as my feet didn't even touch the floor! I know I'm not a big guy but I did feel like a school kid.
That coupled with the issue with it coming loose made me decide that i want it back as it was. The only picture I have is the one attached. Not a close up but you may just see the bottom of the seat and the steering wheel.
I hope this helps.
