Got it off easy with cherry picker. Every thing we're it was suppose to be. When split lower unit from outdrive was very shocked and saddened. Took pics, have tried to send several different ways. Pics. worked great when started this thread?
I think site wise they are having an issue with picture loading

Thank you Scott06.
Have decided to put new water pump in outdrive was on boat when I purchased.
Know gear ratio wrong and engine runs 1000 rpms slow, but would rather that so can get on water.

If u can find a prop 4” less pitch that would raise rpms about 800. Lugging an engine due to wrong ratio or prop can lead to detonation and ruin the engine

Oh wow, will definitely do that. Have an Enertia 13 7/8 × 18p was told because of extreme rake it equaled 21P?

I think rake is more related to bow lift. Big bladed props with a lot of cup like enertia , Revolution 4 will have a lot of grip on the water and lower slip. This effectively acts like adding pitch because the engine won’t turn a lot of rpms. So if you ran the same pitch black max aluminum entry level prop one would expect the enertia to turn a lot lower rpm.
best bet if you have a local prop shop and they will let you try a few to get the right rpm. Some online place like Prop MD in MN let you swap pitches as well.

Yes, have one in Indy. I may have to clean the newer one up. Cannot get the 5/16 allen to break. Going to try more penatrating oil and some heat. Also going to get a crazy knuckle
for my impact wrench.

Got allen bolts loose. Split lower unit off. Really need to post pics, know what they say a picture is worth 1000 words.
Will try to describe what am looking at. There is a tube in water tube out of impellar housing?
Impellar is stuck, happened once before when still had outboard. Had to cut off with my dremal.

did you just replace it ? odd it needed to be cut off or was it on there a while.

Impellers are a good place to use OEM merc parts in my experience they seem to last 2x what even good aftermarkets parts like sierra

It had been on 3 years. Was going to change last year when changed thermostat. That's when ran into the allen bolt at rear. Was afraid to put too much torque on for fear of breaking. This decided what have got to loose.

I agree that OEM is the best way to go. Not sure what previous owner installed, looks like Sierra.
Forgot to mention have a black max in my bow storage space carried for a spare. Think it is a 19 pitch, going to get it out right now.

Finally got impellar off. Had to split 2 times with my dremal, never had one that bad. Found out why once off. Drive shaft was gaulded about a 1/4" just below impellar top.
Think when PO changed last time he just forced new one back on.
