Well I feel real dumb. It turned out there was trash in the thermostat housing and the thermostat was stuck open. So it was good that I removed that and, inspected it. But the major problem was that copper tube that runs from the top of the impeller housing, that i failed to align correctly. I fixed that and it will shoot a fountain of water up to the thermostat.

Btw G_Dane since you have a motor like mine. I have a question for you. There is a little hole on the left side of the upper unit (if your standing infront of the spark plugs). Its about the same hight as the long spring that runs inbetween the upper unit and the transome of the boat. It squirts water out of it. and will shoot in my boat if i turn the motor, to make a left turn. Can i plug this hole or something. i put my finger over it for awhile and it seemed not to affect it. Wow that was long.

Thanks for everyones help. I appreciate it.

I think this should be blocked by a little rubber plug. I will check it on my motor in my garage later today, and let you know.

Is there any blockage in the water tube from the pump to the power head. i had this problem after running my 4HP evenrude in a washed out rubbish bin to test it. A few small pieces of rubbish were pumped into the power head and lodged where the water tube entered the head.easily cleaned out! the amount of stirring when an outboard is running will loosen all kinds of rubbish from a hosed out test tank.
Good luck

Hi Crappie Fan

I looked at my motor. If you refer to the hole right in the middle of the upper leg, it is cloused by a little rubberplug, on mine it is painted a little, so i guess it is original. No water cones out there. I would by it as original sparepart, as this is an opening to the channel from the waterpumt to the powerhead. A wrong plug might block the channel.

G_DANE,
I know the hole your talking about. thats not the one i'm refering too. The one im talking about is more towards the boat. up real high. Kinda hard to explain. lol Its a little higher than the long spring at the top of the upper leg. Maybe that will help a little. Thanks
