Change Out Engines

I would like to change out and evinrude outboard to a johnson. Are the controls and wiring the same or do I need to put the controls from the johnson to do the switch. Both are from the mid 1980's.

What are the model numbers of both of them?

Johnson/Evinrude used the same controls 1979 thru 1995

The only difference might be if one had a VRO pump and the other did not.
