And we wonder why Iraq is skeptical of a democratic gov't.

Reason will prevail, and Feingold will have to eat his shorts, but what a waste of time.

Boy, thought this was boating, but people keep kicking this soap box in front of me.
We do not have a democracy, was never meant to be one. Was designed as a Constitutional Republic, but it's not been that for a while either. We live in a socialist republic. The USSR didn't
die, they moved and changed the acronym to reflect the United States Socialist Republic. Our infamous two party system is dead, Dems and Republicans are in bed together, they're just liberal socialists and conservatives but they're all socialist. Until we can vote a ballot with a conservatiove third party candidate we won't have a two party system.

Several months ago several seditious senators got together in a smoky back room and decided not to confirm anyh more conservative judge appointees in the hopes that Shrillary would be able to steal the election through judicial fiat. They tried in 2000 in Fl. and again in 2004 in Ohio. Should be interesting to see where they try this time.

I have no proof of any of this, just my own opinion.

Sen. Bill Frist called them on the issue and put it up for a floor vote. In typical Democrat style, Democrats blocked a vote yesterday that would have done what Feingold wanted. Instead the matter was referred to the Judicial Committee.

In other words... they didn't have the testicular fortitude to actually go on record and back their colleague. Rather, they can still go about and make this an issue, without actually having to go on record and vote.

Re: Censure the President! .. yep it's Feingold

Everyone seems to be running from Feingold now. Guess for him it wasn't such a good idea. I will give him credit for speaking his mind and trying to put action behind what he believes (even though I don't agree with him). There seemed to be a lot more dems that wanted the same thing till they had to raise their hand and put their name to the vote. Now they are running as fast as they can away from Feingold.

To both parties - get some guts and do what you really feel is right for America. Then let us chose what direction we want to go. Quit trying to say the right things to get elected and then do what you want behind closed doors. Oh, and start working together!

Many of you know that I have spent a good deal of time in a third world country. When I first got there and was thrust into their political scene I was dismayed at the partisanship and lack of conviction for the good of the country in the political process there. I was so glad that MY country was not like that. We knew how to work together to get things done and the fight was for the country, not the political party.

That was then. Today, I get so upset because I have watched the political system of that country stabilize to the point where many members of the government are actually listening to their constituents and doing what needs done - not just looking towards the next election, while watching our political system go to being worse than there's was 15 years ago.

I know, I am rambling. I better get my morning coffee.

There's so much political posturing on this junk it is disturbing.

There's no way to get this to court to determine if it is or isn't legal, because by definition you have no idea who is or isn't being tapped, or why. You are required to trust the admin.

Judging by the incompetent performance by this admin on things we do know about, I can certainly understand Feingold's concern.

Finally, someone who is educated on the subject and can verbalize it better than me. Well said and thanks for saying it.

Admitedly, it is a fine line between freedom and security. Sad that we can't have both because some people want war at any cost.

I'm afraid that terrorists have become a way of life, and they will always wage war, at any cost.

Whoever said that Civil Liberty and National Security are mutually exclusive terms? RUSSIAN COMMUNISTS! Here in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, we always figured that they co-exist. That's what makes US a Free Country! Now these Neo-Nazis...excuse me, Neo-Cons have too many of us believing that we can't have both. BULLSCHIDT!!!!!

Al Queda wins another victory with every civil liberty lost. :(

I'm Proud of both of our Senators and I am pleased to say I voted for them both and certainly will again.

Re: Censure the President! .. yep it's Feingold

What kind of crap is this?

Feingold actually expects the Senate to censure GWB for breaking the law?

GWB admitted that his administration did just that with this program. Isn't that enough? He admitted that the FISA laws were a hassle to follow, so they didn't. No big deal, right? We all get to pick and choose which laws to follow and which ones to ignore. That is how it works for everyone, right? Especially the POTUS.

Why would the Senate actually censure GWB?
It must be some kind of nonsense about checks and balances. You know, that stuff that is written into the Constitution. What the House and Senate are supposed to do, but aren't.

My God, we are at WAR! Are we trying to send some kind of message to the rest of the world that we actually believe in the rule of law? In spite of all evidence to the contrary? We can't send that kind of message. It will inspire the terrorists.

We just can't have this kind of responsible leadership from the opposition party. It might make GWB look bad. And we just can't have that, now can we?

Sheesh.

Google "Sandra Day O'Connor" and Georgetown

She is dead on as to what is really going on.

I wonder what Little Russ's message really was to our friends in Al Quida? Keep killing until the surrender monkey gets his way????

What a political hack. He is crying out for the lunatic left and will race to the center if his presidential campaign gets any traction. This idiot is scream Dean who knows how to keep his voice civil. Anyone know what lil' Russ's contribution to the war effort has been but to be the voice of and the poster child for Al Jeezera? The man is a clown.

So what are you saying, Pointer?

It's ok for the Pres to ignore the constitution and break the law as long as he determines it is for our own good?

I'm sorry, did I miss our President being charged with breaking a law? Which law has he been cited for breaking and when will he be seeing the judge?

Re: Censure the President! .. yep it's Feingold

That is exactly the point of Feingold.

Let's have a little congressional oversight here. Clearly the pres thinks he has the authority to do what he has done. All his folks, who serve at his pleasure, agree with him.

It has yet to be confirmed by an independent party, like the judiciary.

Congress has not had any meaningful hearings n the matter, but they have in the past established a constitutional method to do what the pres is doing, but the pres specifically chose to ignore congress and its law.
We have a constitutional system that specifically limits the power of any one branch of goverment.

Let it work as it is supposed to work. I'm sure Feingold would be satisfied in that event.
