cd-18,,,1961,does the fuel mix still apply

hello,it seems the fuel mix is 24-1,but as todays oils are far supperior than back in 61,can i not use 50-1,or doesnt it work this way,,,thanks piperdog

You definitely need to fatten up the oil on those old 5.5s. They are babbit bearings throughout and they NEED the extra oil. Use the modern oil at the vintage 24:1 ratio and you'll be good to go.
