My wife is my catch of a lifetime. We've been together for 31 years but only married for 30 years. (It was only that one year of "sin.";))

Today, she went fishing with me and another fishing partner of mine. She actually hooked and reeled in three catfish.

She giggles like an 8 year old and squeals and jumps around when she has a fish on the line. I love to watch her get excited by this simple pleasure.

Here is a picture of her and her big smile holding her catch.

How fortunate you guys are to share your love of fishing with your love!!! Celebrating 18 yrs with the Mrs. tomorrow myself. She loves boating/recreational fishing but can do without the commercial ocean fishing I do (lotsa smell and blood does her in). She tolerates everything I do and still makes me smile when I walk in the door. Happy to be a member of the fortunate few....:)

Congrats to those who are lucky, but also smart enough to know a keeper when they see one.
I am fortunate enough to have joined the club. This year is our thirtieth, and tomorrow we are sneaking away to our "secret spot" on the Au Sable for a brookie hunt!:)

Tyme, as soon as I saw your thread title I knew where you were going with it!;)

congrats on a long relationship.
i though i found one, her true colors started showing after a year, i lasted 13 years with it getting worse. i have never found another, that was anywhere near a keeper.

either social climber, or money grubber, or jealous of my kids.

I can be a rat from time to time, but she's tenacious.:D

Seriously, never quit learning, never quit loving, never quit dating, and practice saying as needed, "I hurt you, can you forgive me."

Re: Catch of a lifetime

Most people think that marriage is a contract, where if one party fails their part, the other is released from theirs.

It's not. It's a covenant, where both parties promise to perform, and are held to that performance no matter what the other party does. THAT FEATURE of marriage is needed from time to time to hold it together.

If you're not committed to the marriage as a covenant, no matter how sweet it is, it'll eventually fall apart.

It is my opinion that the denigration of the marriage covenant by our society has set up most family structure for destruction, and that is the cancer that is at the center of most, if not all our current problems as a society.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you celebrated your 18th on Sept 18? We just celebrated our 17th on the Sept 18. My wife loves to go out on the boat. She doen't always fish, she made read half the day. I don't care. When your in the boat, do whatever makes you enjoy the day. Just nice to have someone else out there to pass the time with(especially if the fish aren't biting!).

Actually I'm a little embarrassed! Good thing she doesn't read this forum over my shoulder. We were married Sept 18, 1993. We've been married 17 years!! We appear to have gotten married on the same day. Small world, huh?? Please remind me next year it's 18 yrs now!.

ps fortunately she mentioned it was 17 yrs to a neighbor before I blundered big time!!!!:D

Re: Catch of a lifetime

My first love and I were married just a month shy of 29 years (she passed away) and we were HS sweethearts. I am re-married to yet another great woman;) I feel as if I have won the lottery twice.

I am a believer in being committed and it is a great thing.

Congratulations on having the perfect match
