I did not say they were good but there are 2 different versions. The design 1 has a bushing and design 2 has bearings. Mercury sells that lower unit brand new for around a $1000. I am also pretty sure that the older bushing can be replaced with the newer bearings.Have seen many ads from folks looking for those lower units or selling a motor that --" just needs a lower unit "------Not one of their best designs.----Have about 4 of those motors myself that need lower units.
Thanks much. Just cranked harder knowing i was going the right direction. Half a hernia later she broke loose. Your reply is greatly appreciated. It is a left hand thread.------On some models the thrust bushing is turned around to become the tool to remove it.
