I'm contemplating replacing the carpet myself in my 2000 Lowe Tahiti 192. The few postings I've been able to locate on deck boats and pontoon carpet replacement indicate that they removed all of the railing and seating in order to put the carpet across the entire deck. Is this the standard process for carpet replacement? Also, how difficult is it to remove the railing and seating and get it back together again? I'm fairly handy with construction, but I've never taken anything like this apart and put it back together. Am I biting off more than I can chew?

Don't worry, you will do fine. Just unscrew/bolt anything that needs to come out, bag and tag the hardware, replace the carpet and reinstall it all. Take photos because that will help you see how it all goes back together.

Some people will leave it all in and cut the carpet around these pieces, but that's kind of cheesy. Take the time to do it right.

Re: Carpet Replacment for Lowe Tahiti Deck Boat

Okay it is almost summer and I'm just about finished. Re carpeting the Lowe Tahiti deck was very easy, it was just a confidence issue.

Unfortunately I did have to replace the plywood because most of the original OEM plywood was starting to delaminate. I only wanted to have to do this once, so I replaced all of the plywood, which made the re carpeting easier.

The hardest part was trying to figure out how they installed the plywood to the deck and the hinges to the lids. It ended up being very simple. They attached all of the carpet to the plywood decking and then screwed thru the carpet. You have to be very careful when you do this to not put a run in the carpet, but it worked like a charm.

It's taken me more than 8 sold weekends to do it, but it looks great. I did cheat on the upholstery; I took it to a professional. I hope to have it back by mid-May.

The one true final test is re hooking up the helm with the entire electrical, throttle, and steering. If I can?t get it done, my fallback is a marine mechanic shop.

If anyone wants any advise, feel free to ask. I'm not an expert, but I definitly lived a refurb:)

I have an SD220 which I am wanting to replace the Carpet. I ave a local shop that will do it, but I get the feeling they are going to cut around it, and I don't want it to look cheesie, so anything you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Posts this old are actually not to be answered. The original poster has not been back since his last post :(

I would suggest you start your own thread........ ;) You will get plenty of help and support that way.

I will put this one to sleep.
