Carburetor

I have a 95 9.9 Johnson j10reoe was told I can put 15 Johnson carburetor to make a 15 horsepower is this correct and if so what years will work and is it just the carburetor I would need or is there other parts that would be required thanks

What do you mean not the whole story,I’m simply asking a question and if you cannot answer it than move along thanks I do not want to purchase another outboard as I already have this and if it is as simple as a carburetor change then why not

Used to have an Evi 96 which was converted from a 9.9 to a 15 HP one, aside the 15 HP carb swap, per factory recommendation also swapped the complete reed valve assy which has larger orifices and side gaskets as well due to breaking them when removed. Being my ex motor and yours close years check with a parts manual if there's a 9.9 and 15 HP reed valve assy for that model year.

I believe the biggest difference is port timing in those models. About .100". We used to run the blocks on some kneelers. The 15s were always faster and higher r's.

Guess you could try switching for a 15 carb. If happy with the switch, call the operation successful.

If only swapping just the carb, go for a prop maximization to less prop pitch to pull wot revs up to max wot rmp range. Will better the current hole shot and achieve a slight more top end speed. Must install an induction tach for that purpose. Check here at Iboats store how many less prop pitches from current one installed are available for the Evi 15 HP.
