Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Looking to get more power out of my 1995 3cyl 50 hp. Will a set from a 1989 60hp fit if I use the linkages off of the 50? They look quite different than the type with the black plastic top caps that the 50 has which didn’t appear to be available until 1994 on the 60’s? That style appeared to be available earlier on the 70s, but I believe I need to change the head also(?)

Thanks

Disregard the 1989 compatibility question - I did a parts look up. 1994 and up 60hp and earlier 90’s 70 hp. And only carbs are different by looks of things
unless there are changes in timing advance. Still looking into that

Exhaust tuner and pistons, are different. Can't get the Part #s for the blocks so, can't tell

Even if you were to get those extra HP, it will get you about 2 more mph, and slower holeshot

Thanks, do you know if the 50 stands alone in this regard because they aren’t very common and I wonder if by what you are saying, if it is a somewhat “detuned” motor.

Marketing 101-----Build the same basic motor in 3 versions.-----as 50 / 60 / 70 HP.----Same displacement.-----Pistons all the same.-----Tuner the same-------Carburetors different.----Simple as that.

Thanks that’s what I’ve always thought but Jimmbo is right that there are different part numbers or at least what I’ve found in the BRP lookup. What the actual differences are I have no idea, so I have concerns.

Here’s what I’ve found thus far;
50hp vs 70hp part numbers

50 hp 1995
Piston 0436976
Con rod 0394462
Crank 0338957
Cyl & crankcase assy 0438918
Cyl head 0339221 OR 0339288
Exhaust gasket 0343863
Exhaust cover plate 0343864
Manifold intake 0434126

70 hp 1993
Piston 0437409 different
Con rod 0394462 same
Crank 0338957 same
Cyl & crankcase assy 0434104 different
Cyl head 0339221 same (OR 0339288 not shown for 50hp)
Exhaust gasket 0343863 same
Exhaust cover plate 0343864 same
Manifold intake 0434126 same

Jimmbo’s post does make me wonder. 20 hp is a large spread across one block size of identical (?) displacement.

Assuming your username indicates your career or serious pastime, can you assure that it is carbs only? I’m about to embark on a mini trek to pick up a set of carbs on a bad powerhead. If this conversion will be a flop I’d really like to know this now. I cannot get into anything other than basic external swaps at this time as the boat is in the water for the season. I can at least swap carbs while docked.

Thanks in advance!

???----When I look up the 56 cube pistons in an aftermarket book, they are the same from 1886 to 2001 ??-----Why would you compare a 1993 listing with a 1995 ???

Interesting to know. Perhaps the BRP parts have minor manufacturing updates over the 2 year span. I’ll check identical years to confirm.
The reason for the 93 & 95 years is because I’m looking at buying a donor motor and trying to determine if parts crossover are compatible.

See post #7-----Look up WISECO pistons for these 56 cube models !!!!
Ok so 1995 50 hp and 1995 70 hp numbers are identical. (Piston, rods, cyl head, exhaust plate, crank, intake manifold)

Why would OMC/BRP use different part numbers over the years?

Not challenging you, I just need to know why and what the differences, if any, could be.

Are the only differences in just the numbering system and no differences in any actual physicality?
