Hi John
For some reason my scanner is goofed up again. I'll get you the info as quick as I can. It may take a few days, I won't forget. I think it would be a good idea to remove the flywheel and have a look round. Not only at the elect. stuff, but also look at the crankshaft seal. Look for excess oil around there. Then squirt a little TCW-3 on the seal. Rotate motor, check for leaks. You could use soap as well.

It sounds like you are already getting good advice but I thought I would comment on a few things.
You are obviousely an inteligent and mechanically inclined individual who has the sense not to be ashamed of not knowing every thing about a motor and asking questtions.
This is great but it is not a substitute for some experience playing with motors in the past. I would suggest staying with your current method of trouble shooting but you really should supplement it with at least a backyard or hobbyist mechanic to watch over your shoulder once in a while.
This has been great entertainment and a learning experience for myself and many watching but not a great way to fix a motor or keep your health and figers in tact. I am sure someone on your block would be willing to stop by and look over your project just to make sure that there is not something glaringly wrong that all the kind helping people on the internet will never think of because thay are not there.
By the way if after all the suggesttions so far get tried you may want to have your motor tested for compresion leak down. I would do this last because you dont show the classic signes of a leakage probablem but I would check it anyway. This test is a little controvercial as to its helpfullness on a two stroke engine but beleive it or not I have seen two strokes who have just passed a compression test fail a leak down test due to things like cracked pistons. This is a very long shot stay on course with the feul and spark issues for now. Robbyusa@aol,com
Now would someone give me just one response to my post about my tilt and trim.

Re: Carbs didn't look dirty! Is this normal?

Bad news. Engine is now worse off than it was originally. Was so bad, I got towed in by another boat since recleaning the carbs. Now it doesn't even idle. Max idling time is about 2 minutes, then conks out, even with idle screw up high. When I cleaned out carbs using compressed air(this time), I didn't install rebuild kits as I had only taken my boat out 2 times since new kits where installed about 2 months ago and boat taken out two times only. Do I need new rebuild kits even though they are quite new? Will this help? Everything else looks right.

John,

Here is something else you might look at. Do you have any black streaks on the white part of the spark plugs between the rubber boot and the metal nut? If you do, you should consider getting new rubber boots from any local dealer. The black marks are where the spark has jumped from the boot to the metal nut instead of across the gap where it should be.

JohnM - Hate to get back to the carbs but what you describe still points thata way. When you cleaned the carbs this time did you replace the little round plugs (I think your motor has them - if not go to next post). These plugs look like freeze plugs on auto engines, quite small & are usually gotten out with a drill & pride out with a small screwdriver - new ones must be tapped in. Crud often gets trapped behind them.

JohnM, you mentioned in a prior post that you had a blueish color comming from your jets when you were soaking them. What type of carburator cleaner were you using? It sounds like it was disolving your idle jet(now your engine runs worse than ever) While I don't have your engine, mine has non-adjustable idle jets that can be taken out. I would check on the condition of these, now that boat does run so poorly.Read above post:) PDS

Im with PDS on this one.
Some of those automotive carb cleaners could eat a hole clear through your kitchen table.
And you did mention in one of your posts leaving the carbs soaking for a couple of days.........

Re: Carbs didn't look dirty! Is this normal?

I have not checked for black streaks on spark plugs. Will do so.

Did not change those "freeze plugs" on the carbs. My engine does have them. Is THAT how you take them out! Off they(carbs) come again...

Will buy new jets for my carb, just in case they were "eaten" away by carb cleaner. Apparently these engines were built with .045" diammeter jets but then envinrude recommended 0.46" jets as these were very sensitive engines. Does anybody know of this? Also, which one is the low idle jet?

Used the carb & engine tuner from Mercury.

Really appreciate everybodys help on this one. I'm determined to nail it with your help.
