Look great. I think I'll try to make my dash area out of aluminum but if it doesn't turn out well enough to paint I'll use this stuff to cover my mistakes.

I used some stuff from Canadian tire to cover accent pieces on my dash in my boat - worked pretty slick , can see how it turned out in my sig.

This one advertised looks better for outdoor applications than the 3M DI-NOC.

3M DI-NOC which is a interior design film. Our 3D carbon wrap vinyl is a must have for full wraps. MetroRestyling Carbon Fiber Automotive Wrap Vinyl Sheets can be applied to Your car's hood, trunk, roof, dashboard, gauges, interior, amplifiers, wheels, mirrors, door handles, glass, cell phones, laptops, iPods, motorcycle parts, metal parts and just about any relatively non-porous surface. The film is coated with a UV coating which will last up to nine years outdoors.

Sounds like an advertisement. Lol

But could be the product to use?

Hey Guys, I found another option- http://www.rvinyl.com/vinyl-wrap.html

they sell vinyl wrap in solid colours as well as carbon fiber look- and it is good for Exterior UV intense surfaces. I ordered myself a small sample to give a try. The price is more reasonable than the 3M also.

I looked at their web site. Looks good. I guess you get to be the guiny pig with this product. I didn't see any life time projections, did you?

Actually CK, they do mention it as being UV resistant and will last 3 years out doors. I figure with my boat being exposed to sun 5-6 months of the year and in a boat house 3/4 of the time during those 5-6 months, I should be ok for at least twice that. during winter, it is stored indoors. I have ordered a small piece to give it a test on a few surfaces so I will put the results on YouTube and post a link.

Solid carbon fiber. Is that the real stuff?

It sure sounds like it!.....a little too much work and $$ for me... but I would love to see what you come up with DustinJean.

Did you get your samples yet?

I did but did not get a chance to comment. I ended up with the beige sample but it was glossy and would show any little bumps etc. I did stick very well though. I tried it on a bare 2x4, finished wood, and finally plastic. Impressed with how well it stuck. I just wish there was a semi gloss version. I look forward to seeing pics of someone else's on an actual dash cause I am starting to lean toward simply painting my dash.
