Re: Carb rebuild time

I bought mine from our local mercruiser dealer that way I knew I had the right one. Just took the numbers off the little metal tag and
bingo he handed me the correct kit.

My research says the Sierra kit number is 18-7746 and Napa kit is 18-7097

Re: Carb rebuild time

I agree with AllDodge, that Sierra kit says replaces 823427A1. Which was the kit my dealer just ordered for my rebuild of a 2B Rochester and he asked a service guy who said that is the kit they use on all 2B Rochester's regardless of model. The photo looks like it has all the same fiddly-bits that come in my Quicksilver 823427A1 kit.

Any FYI, the power piston does come out, it may have been staked in pretty hard, so it could take a fair amount of messing with to get it to release. I had to use a fair amount of 3-in-1, carb cleaner, and a little bit of pressure using a deep well socket over the shaft and spring so I could gently pry on the flat plate that touches the power nozzle, to get the piston out.

Re: Carb rebuild time

Thanks guys.
i nailed it down last night too. i couldnt locate a sierra listing for carb kits for some time.
i figured it was pretty standard for a Rochester 2 jet but want to be sure. There are a couple others available.
