Even in the 60's several tv shows used "canned laughter" to influence the audience on punch lines. Even today, I just can't stand the canned laughter that is on many popular shows. Heck even that whats it's name Sheen show has it. And they even laugh at stuff that isn't that funny. If you notice the audience laughter is exactly the same.....like there is some guy playing this laughing machine for all the shows. Anyone else notice this?

Yup. It is annoying, especially when the show is not filmed before a live audience. I don't watch many of those, preferring BritComs that are filmed in front of a live audience but probably have canned laughter as a backup.

I cant stand it either. I think it just makes any show look cheesy.

I've enjoyed many an episode of Last of the Summer Wine before bed. Suspect it meets these criteria, but it's a britcom I've grown very fond of.
