Re: can't get full power

Whenever an motor begins to fail to perform we begin troubleshooting in a logical manner to prevent unnessary part expense.

First thing is to remove the spark plugs and inspect them for excessive carbon deposits and/or excessive gap.

Replace the spark plugs if they look poor. Many times this alone will cure upper RPM problems.

While the spark plugs are out, test the compression on all cyl's to ensure that they are all within 5% of each other.

Also test the spark on all cyl's to ensure the ignition system is working correctly to provide a bright crisp blue arc to adequately ignite the fuel mixture.

If spark plugs, compression and ignition all pass these simple tests then if is usually time to service the fuel system.

Post the results of your compression and ignition tests before proceeding further.
