Watching the repeat broadcast on the tv instead of the iPad ... I don't think she touched her! If she did, it was barely! Don't think anything should have been called. ... Bummer! USA just lost AGAIN!

I agree Art it was a bad call, but like I said it never should have gotten out of regulation, they have no one to blame but themselves, sure throw the coaching staff in there who ever decided to sit back made a horrible decision and it cost them, you cannot expect a team like Canada to say ok were done.

I had a couple of conversations around this exact situation today both during and after the game. When you are up a couple of goals...its a dangerous thing because you aren't sure whether to protect your lead (go defensive) or keep pushing (go offensive). This situation goes way worse when you go down to being 1 goal up because your opponent senses 'being close and having nothing to lose'...and its tough to keep being offensive and aggressive when you just want to run the clock down and finish up with a simple lead.
Very tough to control the mind and to coach a bench of players wrestling with that with a minute, two or three left in a game.....glad it wasn't me!! LOL

As for the penalty I think she clipped Hayley with her skate...probably not on purpose, but it doesn't matter under those breakaway conditions. She (U.S girl) had enough speed she probably could have completely overtaken her in about 2 more strides and simply stick checked her. Under those conditions tho' your mind is racing and you are ready to do just about anything to stop a player from scoring.
They are playing the game later again....so I'll try to catch the replays of that play.

What time is the game on tomorrow EST/PST? I saw a posting of it being at 21:00 Sochi time...but is that 11:00 EST?

The refereeing was horrendous....see my earlier rant.
They insist on using women officials and the problem with that is that the current evolutionary level of women's hockey does not afford them enough absolute top-level games to gain the experience they need to officiate at the speed that Canada and the USA play.
The result is what you saw today.... several blown calls and a couple of positioning FUBARS....especially on that O/T call on the Wickenheiser breakaway.
The referee was so far behind the play that she actually called it a cross-check.

Hi everyone, just back from the Dominican Republic. Watched the replay of the game on CBC.ca :) Heck of a game and a nail biter to the end.
Back to work in the morning so may not be able to watch that game live either.

Who's that?

Randy Quaid is an American who played Cousin Eddie in the National Lampoon vacation movies, the crop duster who flew his plane kamakase style into the alien ship in Independence Day and plenty of other roles. He's a wacko and is trying to get permanent Canadian residency. Randy Quaid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you don't know who he is, maybe not good trade bait.

The US/CAN men's game is 12 noon EST according to the schedule I saw.

Haven't seen any of the Vacation flicks, but I remember the loon in Independence Day...."Helloooooo boys, I'm baaaaaccck".. :) . He did a good job with that part.
