ha ha , sorry i just read what i wrote and seen that it could be taken another way by some factions of the population.
but either way !, what i meant was , if you are going to repair or do something aesthetically pleasing on your boat , then at least do it so as it lasts,
a half assed rattle can job on a real boaters prop or skeg is going to last the first power load at the ramp or the first time one crosses a sand bar at low tide before the paint is all shredded off.

give me a break , I'm Aussie , we don't get but hurt over the little things that are said on the internet .

You folks must have some very abrasive water...here on Lake Erie, I use Krylon gloss black on my Merc prop and skag without issues. Last touched up last July, have run a couple dozen trips with an average of 15-30 miles each trip... Still looks like the day it was painted !! The Krylon is a perfect match to the Merc black.

yes , the water is abrasive , especially in the estuary's and rivers , lots of sand run off as we are on a desert fringe here where i am in Western Australia ,its like a giant sand pit here :)..

personally , i have given up painting or powder coating props and skegs ,
even the Bullitt part on the front of my outdrive is raw from the abrasive bottom in the estuary..

weird thing is i have yet to see it do damage to impellers or engine blocks.

ha ha , na mate , its not that bad .
to give an example , i use my ski boat with a 5.7 strait drive in a fresh water lake most of the time , when i flush , i get all this black gritty sediment stuff come out of the exhaust , it sits on the ride plate and it has to be washed down with clean water after flushing.

paint does not stand up too well around sand :).
