It is a shame that the model of the motor is not known. If it was, one could see that part in the Yamaha parts catalog.

??---Post picture of the speedometer tube that you see.
The picture on the left is what I am saying is the speedometer line/tube. The reason I say this is because it was broken this winter and I ask my boat mechanic what it was and thats what he said, as you can see he spliced it. I don't have an actual speedometer on my boat.
The 2nd pic is of both lines. The line on the left is the broken one, it goes down through the shaft of the motor

When the motor left Japan there was one hose that ran from the lower cowling area down through the mid section and on to the lower unit. the hose conveys Pitot tube water pressure for those that have a speedometer and choose to use that for their boat speed.

If some backyardigan chose to add another hose for some other reason I am not in a position to hazard a guess as to what he was doing.

Upon further review, it appears the larger hose might be the one that connects to the flush fitting. Which, as alluded to earlier, can be seen in the Yamaha parts catalog for the model in question.

If one were to use the Yamaha parts catalog. Which few seem to do.

yes your arrow with the broken fitting is exactly where that tube broke off from. When looking at the catalog i was wondering if it was the flushing fitting as well.
