PC: I linked that rebuild thread because if you are considering the purchase of this hull, that conversion to pump jet might be an interesting possibility...... And if not, its still a neat little hull that could be fun to rehab & splash.....
No idea what contest frank entered, but I suspect, as it's only participant, he may have won....
Quite frankly, I just wanted to work out what the heck this thing was. But then, looking at Franks's setup, it occurs to me that someone was selling a 150 Mercury Long Shaft Locally......
Really not sure. It's not a Water Wasp, and it's not a GW Invader but it fits in that class.. If someone knows what it is and catches the ad it may be worth it to them.
From what I can see in the photo, while I can not identify the boat, it looks like a 3 point hydroplane, like a mini version of "Miss Budweiser. You can see how the sides are cut in under the decking at the rear. This boat would probably be meant to ride on the two front sponsons (if that is the design--difficult to see in the photo) and the anti-ventilation plate of the engine.
It probably would take around a 20-25 HP engine. Since the transom is so narrow, anything heavier would sink it or come close to sinking it at rest. It looks like it would be a fun ride for one person. Even though there appears to be two "Headrests" I doubt that two people would fit correctly..
At 500 bucks, I think the price is fair. These little boats sell fast because of the "wow" factot. For example: If I were selling my 10 foot tunnel in the photos, without an engine, I would be asking --oh, I don't know---probably 750 or more and would expect it to sell rather quickly..
Many years ago in Myrtle beach SC their was a place you could ride boats like that, they were called swash boats, thats my only clue. Those had 9.9 on them.
