I need to find the cabin air intake on my truck. Living in a wooded area we have all kinds of critters around , mice, chipmunks, etc. second time I cleaned a nest out of my cabin air filter and in the process their stash falls into my blower😡. Pretty sure the intake is in the cowl under the windshield. Before I start messing around maybe someone here has been down this road and has some insight??

there is also a cabin air filter.

air intake is just above that, and I believe runs to the fender. I think I recall seeing it when I pulled the fender liner on the GMC to get to the starter.

Word of caution. If there are acorns etc. sitting on top of the cabin filter when you pull it out, they all end up falling in your squirrel cage fan. There's zero clearance so the top of the housing scrapes everything off when you pull it out. Mine was a 2014 Silverado

Pretty sure it’s in the fender but I’ve honestly never needed to dig that far into .Looks like you got the fan down which is the hardest part. I do them infrequently here at my work ( GM dealer ). Usually stuffed above the cabin filter.. clean the filter, clean the fan. Deodorize and send it back to the customer

Yes, the cabin air filter started the whole thing. As soon as I pulled it I knew the blower would be full crap. I believe the intake in the fender is for the motor. From the little I can find it is supposed to be in the cowl under the windshield. Which would put it above the filter. On each end of the plastic cowl is a half inch gap between plastic and steel. I’m thinking it might be a possibility. If the intake is in there.

I am pretty sure its in the upper portion of the cab cowl area behind the right inner fender well.

takes about 3 minutes to pull the inner fender liner. not sure how long it takes to pull the fender. however If I recall, you could screw a bit of hardware cloth over the opening.

And when you do pull that fender liner. Check the ground strap down on the bottom while your there.. known to rot off and then funky stuff happens electrically

Yeah the inner liner is cake. Hopefully I find the intake when I do. Not happening today for sure.

No go on the intake being in the fender well. I pulled it down enough to get a good look at where it would have to be. Even reached way in with the camera and took photos. No sign of an intake anywhere. It’s got to be in the cowl.

You know anyone with one of those smoke machines that could blow smoke in where the fan was and see where it comes out?

I thought about doing something like that. But it’ll most likely end up coming out inside the truck.

Engineers design things to be assembled quickly, not be repaired.

Why else would an oil filter for a Hemi Dodge Ram be right above the front cross bar?
