Buying first Chris Craft

Anyone out there can give me a few pointers regarding purchasing my first boat? First off, I have my eye on a classic Chris Craft runabout. Second I live inland and the boating would comprise of river/lake traffic. No sea water.
Just me & the missus, along with the 10 year old.
I was hoping some of you might own a C C and might be able to give me some advice for the first buy.

you say Chris Craft, what size, vintage. they make runabouts to huge cruisers. do you want to trailer it? what is your tow vehicle.
