Button used to pop back out now doesn't had to disconnect linkage and now have to shift manually at the motor.how do I replace or fix the button

Hi there, you may have to disassemble the control unit to try and reset the button back inline sort of speak if you can't get it to pop back out from the front side by tapping on the unit, or getting in there with a small pocket flat blade screwdriver working it around to see if it will pop. What year is your boat and do you know the model type of the controller? If you cannot persuade it to pop back out somehow, you may need a new control mechanism.

Have a photo of the control handle? It may help us help you at getting the front handle removed correctly and finding parts to it for you to look at.
