You are NOT wrong. DirecTV messed up and they need to fix it. When the rep calls back, tell hime he can either send pre-paid shipping labels and arrange for pickup, or that you will simply leave them on the front porch and they can either get them or not. If they're still there in 5 days, they go in the trash.
I'd then follow that up with an e-mail to their customer service stating the same. If you have the option, send it 'return receipt', so that you get a notification when it's opened at the other end. Keep the e-mail and receipt.
A customer is not responsible for items they didn't order. You are only required to notify the seller of the error, and make a 'reasonable effort' to make those items available for pickup.
