Broken Skeg Tip...Repairable?

Every O/B or stern drive has a skeg. Reasons? Prop protection for sure. Kinda like the "wing ding" curb finders in my pop's '56 Rambler wagon. Early warning when you're getting too close to the bottom at slow speed.
I've never replaced a skeg. When I've had pile ups I do it right. New lower housings. Skegs may provide a little low speed steering assist.

I mostly boat on a very rocky lake. A buddy ripped his skeg off multiple times when he brought his boat up for fishing weekends. He had a fixed a couple times and then just lived with it. He said that he didn't notice a difference on his Lund Alaskan with a 70Merc.
