Broke my winch strap

Yesterday I broke my winch strap on my trailer (1998 Shore Land'r) Is there a special strap that I need to buy for this or would something like this do?

Yep, that's what you need. Just replaced mine last weekend after noticing it was getting pretty worn. This is a really easy thing to replace. Just need a wrench and about 10 mins.

Damn I may have to get a new one at that price. I have heard some have make the mistake of using a vehicle tow strap that stretches, bad idea, dangerous if it snaps, disconnects etc. And wont want to stay tight, without putting a bunch of tension on it.

You don't indicate what type boat you are using this on. Remember that this is, in most cases, the only thing preventing your boat from coming off the trailer. if you are like most boaters anyway.

So, look at the working load, pretty wimpy. If you have any size boat at all, a stronger strap is a good investment. As is a chain w/turnbuckle, and transom straps.

Course, if you are running a tinny or jon boat, have at it.

The winch strap should always be just that, a winch strap! I change mine out every few years and keep the last one as a spare. A safety chain keeps the bow from walking and transom straps (Also checked and replaced as required) keep the stern on the trailer!

Ayuh,... I'm all done with those danm Straps,...
If they lay over, or get pinched, their Junk...

Next winch I gotta fill is gettin' Rope...
Good Quality 3/8" Rope is just as strong, don't care 'bout twist, 'n is cheaper, 'n Waayyy Easier to work with...

A little beefier. Hope to have it soon. I have a 1998 Sea Ray 190 BR, so not an overly large boat. Thanks for the help.
